#StopAsianHate

From senseless assaults on Asian American elders on city buses to the most recent premeditated killings of Asian women in metro Atlanta, The 821 Project strongly condemns the recent rise of hate crimes and ongoing physical and structural violence against the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community.

While anti-Asian hate has spiked during the COVID-19 pandemic, physical and structural violence towards AAPI community members has been commonplace for much of American history. Confronting the root causes of these attacks and anti-Asian racism is connected to our further ongoing struggle against racism and white supremacy. Furthermore, there is no hierarchy of oppression and injustice. No one is safe if any community feels unsafe, and apathy and indifference towards any community’s struggles simply because they may not share our culture or experiences does not move us forward towards liberation from systemic oppression and violence.

Genuine solidarity, support, and empathy will.
